I have to disagree about your body not knowing or caring how many calories you take in. A calorie is by definition a unit of measurement for energy content. More sugary, fatty foods have more calories for a reason – they provide a big dose of energy. Energy that is not expended (i.e. burned off through psychical activity), HAS to go somewhere and is stored as fat. I do agree that you should have a well balance of macros to feel your best and see the most success in your weight loss, but ultimately you MUST create a calorie deficit to lose weight. I also agree with you that diets that promote extremely low calorie intakes are bad for you and will cause metabolic damage over time. Because of the way you count your macros, you’ve obviously set up your diet so the overall volume of food (calories) you’re eating is putting you at either a deficit or maintaining in the long run. So, while you SAY calories don’t matter, you’re clearly eating the correct amount, you’re just not counting them. I don’t think it’s setting people up for success to tell your audience (many who have little to no experience with health and fitness) that calories don’t matter because they will most likely end up overeating due to lack of knowledge.
