The adidas tennis shoes I have also have the Nike pod insert under the insole. Nike has partnered with other manufacturers to offer this technology.

What i want to read in the Guardian is how to speed up cross training all that.
To be honest the running bit seems like the only people who are even interested in there own subject.

The Nike+ shoe pod can be work on any shoe via a small velcro pouch that sits on your laces. The watch will also log 8+hours of runs. So you don have to upload your data between every run.
